EMILIANO SALA: FLOWER WHICH FELL DOWN BEFORE BLOSSOM

What would have been the thoughts which flashed through Sala's mind when he stepped up into that private plane? The new club, new friends, his future career, scoring goals, celebrating, moving to top clubs......... All of a sudden everything disappeared into the depth of Alderney.

On 22 January 2019, football world woke up by hearing the missing news of an Argentine footballer, Emiliano Sala. Various sources reported that the private plane which was flying from Nantes to Cardiff with Sala and the 59-year-old pilot David Ibbotson had gone missing. According to Channel Islands Air Search, chances of survival is narrow.

The 28-year-old started his senior career for the French side, Bordeaux. Life wasn't easy at France as he found it extremely difficult to place his name on the starting lineup. Frustration forced him to make a loan move to Ligue 2 side Chamois Niortais. Sala had a great time with them and scored 11 goals in 12 appearances.

After returning to Bordeaux, the youngster scored his first senior goal for the club. But he failed to keep up the form and Bordeaux sent him to SM Caen, another Ligue 1 club for gaining more experience. He scored five goals for Caen during the loan period.

Nantes announced Sala's signing on 2015. He finished his debut season as the club's top scorer with six goals in his account. There were ups and downs in his career at France. He became the first Nantes player to score a hat-trick when he put three goals against Toulouse. Overall, Sala has a record of 48 goals in 144 appearances in Ligue 1.

Premier League club Cardiff City scouted him and roped him up for a club record transfer fee. Despite the offers from the Chinese Super League with a huge salary, the Argentine decided to go to Premier League. His love and passion for football were not money-centric. He wanted to improve his game through the quality offered by Premier League and hoped that one day he could play with Lionel Messi in Argentina National Team.

Sala completed his medical at Cardiff and returned to Nantes for the farewell. Poor Sala had no idea what was coming on his way. At Alderney, reports confirmed that the plane had gone missing. The news spread like wildfire all over the internet. The entire football world prayed with one mind and supported the rescue mission.

Later a Whatsapp audio which Sala sent to his friends was leaked;

       "Hello, my brothers, how are you? Boy, I’m tired. I was here in Nantes taking care of things, things, things, things, things, things, and it never stops, it never stops, it never stops. Anyway guys, I’m up in this plane that feels like it's falling to pieces, and I’m going to Cardiff. [It's] crazy, we start tomorrow. Training in the afternoon, guys, in my new team… Let's see what happens. So, how's it going with you guys, all good? If in an hour and a half you have no news from me, I don't know if they are going to send someone to look for me because they cannot find me, but you will know… Dad, I'm scared!"

As per the latest news reports, Guernsey Police stopped their efforts to find the private plane. The decision made by them was shocking to the world. Famous footballers including Lionel Messi, Kanté, Higuain etc. showed the willingness to help for resuming the search. Kanté even expressed that he is ready to finance the search for Emiliano Sala, his former Caen teammate. How can we hate this man?

The love that Cardiff fans showing is incredible. Sala didn't even play once for their club. Yet, the supporters consider him as one of their own. The club staff paid their tribute to Sala and the Pilot recently.
