TOP THREE PLAYERS THAT CAN REPLACE INJURED ROB HOLDING IN ARSENAL

Arsenal had a dream run under Emery in both Premier League as well as Europa league with a 22 match unbeaten streak. Even though attack and midfield showing tremendous play, the defence is still a headache for Emery. To add more misery, it is confirmed that Rob Holding has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee during their clash with Manchester United on Wednesday night. The rehabilitation process usually takes six to nine months which is definitely a long period. Return of Monreal and Koscielny should loosen up Emery a bit. But relying on 33-year-old Koscielny and an error-prone Mustafi would be suicidal if they want to challenge for the ultimate prize. So Arsenal may make a move to replace injured Rob Holding with another centre back to partner up with Sokratis and Mustafi. Here, we look at 3 players Arsenal can target in the upcoming January transfer window:

               1)Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt and Frankie de Jong, the Dutch duo has been linked to a number of top clubs because of their consistent performance recently. de Ligt who plays as a centre back for Ajax and Holland National team is showing solid play at the back. The 19-year-old partner up with Virgil Van dijk in the National team and their recent results shows how valuable he is. They beat World Champions France and former champions Germany. Despite his young age, he is already leading the club and that shows his leadership skill and winning mentality. The young defender is very good at tackling, intercepting and giving key passes to forwards. There are already rumours of him linking with clubs like Barcelona, Manchester City etc. If Gunners can get him, it would be another bargain for them after the Uruguayan Torreira. But he won't come out cheap.

                     2)Kalidou Koulibaly

Kalidou Koulibaly, the Senegalese footballer who currently plays as a centre back for Italian side Napoli is another option for the Gunners. The 27-year-old has been in tremendous form and at his peak growth in his career. A lot of clubs including Manchester United and Barcelona already have their eyes on Koulibaly. Standing at 195 cm, the big centre back with his strength and energy is a fine addition to any team. He is good at tackling and in aerial battles. Koulibaly can also help in building attacks and set-pieces. Napoli will not let him go easily. If Gunners can pay his transfer fee, then it would be a great partnership with Sokratis at back.

                   3)ERIC BAILLY

Eric Bailly, the Ivorian International is another option for Arsenal. The 24-year-old would be an easy target for Emery as the Manchester United centre back lacks game time due to injuries and the presence of defenders like Smalling, Jones and Rojo. He can play as a right back too thanks to his pace. Bailly is good at blocking, tackling and intercepting the opponent's attack. Compared to the above options, Arsenal can get Bailly at a lesser transfer fee. But to get a player from an arch rival won't be easy.

Arsenal is showing a great piece of play under Emery. Their attack and midfield have a lot of potentials to win matches. Defence is the only thing Emery has to look upon for a Champions League spot and Europa League title. Hope they soon solve it. #COYG #EMERYERA.
