SOUTHAMPTON VS ARSENAL:POST MATCH REVIEW

Arsenal's unbeaten dream run is finally over; credits to Southampton. In a thrilling match, the final score line is 3-2 in favour of the home side. D.Ings and 2nd half substitute C.Austin found the back of the net for home side while Mkhitaryan's brace wasn't enough for Arsenal. Here we take a look at 3 points that led to Arsenal's defeat:

Unai Emery and Mesut Ozil - Mesut Ozil sent his clearest message yet over future after Unai Emery omits him from Arsenal squad for 'tactical reasons'

            1)SHAKY DEFENCE

No Sokratis, No Holding, No Mustafi; Emery must had a heart attack when he got forced to play Koscielny and Xhaka as centre back. Koscielny just came back to the squad after the long term injury suffered in last Europa league match against Atletico Madrid. He failed to clear two aerial crosses which led to the first half goals. At 33 with Captain's armband, Koscielny absolutely failed to step up to the standards. With Monreal and Lichsteiner who already past their prime as wing back, no wonder Arsenal conceded three. Emery must start to look for young quality defenders in upcoming transfer window if they want to challenge for top 4 spot and Europa league title.

             2)OZIL EFFECT

Ozil came in as a substitute to replace Alex Iwobi in the 2nd half. Eventually Ozil moved to no.10 role while Auba came into the wing. The German playmaker always take it lazy to track the ball back and today there was no change. He lost the ball at times and Southampton starts counter attack. His presence makes a huge gap in Arsenal's midfield and Southampton scored their third due to Ozil's miss. No doubt that Ozil is a world class player. But if u are the top paid player, you must act as it is. If he do not change his attitude and laziness, sooner or later ozil would find an exit from Emirates.

               3)LENO's BLUNDER

Bernd Leno, the German shotstopper has been in terrific form for Gunners in front of sticks. But his mistake led to the third goal for Southampton. When the cross came, he was out of mind whether to come outside for the cross or not. His stretched hand couldn't reach the ball and Austin didn't make any mistake. Criticizing a goal keeper for a single mistake is a bit cruel for some people. But if it costs your team 3 points, don't expect any mercy. As Saint Iker Casillas said, "No matter how many goals you save, some people will only remember the one you missed".

Hope Arsenal learned their lessons and can bounce back when they face Spurs on Thursday for the League Cup. Emery should look to add more squad depth to challenge for a top 4 position and a Champions league spot on next year. #COYG #EMERYERA #GUNNERS.
